I could go on and on about the wonderful, fabulous reception given to me by the Foley Arts Center (and surrounding press) to debut a month long solo exhibit of my work and still not express the magnitude of it.
Even Mayor John Koniar, and wife Linda, who are both active at the Foley Arts Center, attended. When the south rolls out the red carpet, they really roll out the red carpet!
First I want to say that the people of the south are the friendliest I've ever encountered. Everywhere you go they make you feel like a visiting celebrity.
Three newspapers ran in depth stories about both me and my artwork (See Alabama Solo Exhibit Press Coverage). I was asked to give a short address to the Coastal Photography Club.
Shirley W. Mitchell, The Golden Egg of Aging, who interviewed me for their internet radio show, Aging Outside the Box, and her producer, Cruiser Small, went with us to a nearby restaurant, Magnolia Court. We were all gushed over like royalty because they had been told about us by other kind customers when we entered. Our outstanding server, Cindy Bowman, even ushered us to meet the owner and his wife before we left.
Over 65 people attended and several sales were made.
When the south rolls out the red carpet, the south rolls out the red, red carpet. Here's some pix and video to prove it!
Susan Clark of Glenlakes Golf Club has supported me from the beginning. For this exhibit Susan sent emails to every Club member about the exhibit. And I met many of them at the reception. Thank you again, Susan. You are a treasure.
